Shame on Fort Worth's City Council, including the Mayor for not being 'proactive' on animal welfare issues

The out of control animal issues in Fort Worth's 'uneducated' neighborhoods is astounding. Thanks to our local out of touch government for sticking their heads in the sand for the past 5 - 6 years. Especially, Council District 8 Rep, Mayor Pro Tem Kathleen Hicks, Councilman Frank Moss, Councilman Salvador Espino, Former Councilwoman Wendy Davis and the current Councilman Joel Burns who's Districts are high in Animal Control calls and pick ups.

BTW, dog in picture is up for adoption. Very sweet, very low key, very food driven. Home study required in adoption proceedings. If interested email me at suzetteforcouncil@gmail.com.

I sent you the above link since I have gotten several notices from the city regarding these meetings.

Thank you Ann for sending the link. Yes, I've been getting those notices from the City as well. I am thrilled at the proposed additions to the Ordinance. I think it's funny that our local government uses the word 'proactive' in addressing animal issues. They are being forced to be 'reactive' as the irresponsible dog owners are out of control and have been for a few years now. The City has NOT been 'proactive' in dealing with the problem -- they are now reacting to the problem.

Better late than never... also I think it's hard to get citizens interested in coming to such meetings when they don't perceive a problem existing already. Not that I think a city should wait to address things when they become a problem but I have been to many a meeting where the turn out is low low low. It can be very frustrating.

Absolutely better late than never. I could not agree more. It's just very frustrating when you have City Council Reps that are absolutely out of touch and/or don't give two hoots about 'sensitive' issues in our neighborhoods that are difficult for them to deal with for whatever reason and that sit on their tails and stick their heads in the sand and pretend the issues don't exist until they are forced to deal with them.
Regarding the low turn out to meetings. People are busy, who wants to get off work and go to a meeting about something that should/could be discussed at Neighborhood Association meetings -- with the discussion and NEED to do something being lead by the City Council Rep?! Instead they are sitting in multiple Board rooms trying to further their political careers and looking for ways to take more of our tax dollars to cover their out of control spending and asking the Neighborhood Associations to ignore the real issues. Especially the Reps who's Districts with the highest stats for the particular issue like Animal Control is for District 8, 2 & 5! It's what I call poor poor leadership or none at all!
If I didn't have a business to run, I would be happy to really do what it would take to win a seat on the Council and really go to work for the people & the neighborhoods. In the meantime, I'll make time to point out the truths from my personal perspective. Some call it negative, some call it bitchy, some call it necessary, some really love it! For me, it's the right thing to do and a very much needed thing for my neighborhood.
Thank you Ann for commenting and reading my blog site. It's nice to have other's perspectives & opinions.

He always has his nose to the ground trying to sniff out something good!! He is a love though, don't you need one more? I already have my limit of 6!!!
